So Beth went from the cutting edge of world-building, open world, and writing to just being another number. The fact is, a lot of Beth's formula is outdated because the industry caught up with them and even surpassed them in some areas. It's a very by the numbers Beth game despite being a new IP which should have afforded them more freedom than trying to change Elden Scrolls or Fallout. The problem is, Beth didn't really try with Starfield. We wouldn't have RE4, GOW 2018, 3D Zelda, 3D Mario, multiplayer in Mario, Monster Hunter World/Rise, FF7, and many other games if companies stuck to being whatever purists wanted. In short, almost no one carters to purists otherwise nothing would change. In terms of Zelda, "purists" hate any Zelda outside of the first one or don't extend past the 2D games. ![]()
